Woven Fabric Inquiry Checklist for Buyers
Use this checklist before sending a woven fabric inquiry so the supplier can review your requirement, sample route, MOQ, lead time and quotation faster.
Step 1
Basic fabric information
Start with the commercial and technical details that affect fabric matching, price and sampling.
| Fabric type | Polyester woven, nylon woven, cotton woven, T400/T800 stretch, PU coated, TPU laminated, bonded fabric, yarn-dyed or stock fabric. |

| Composition | Confirm fiber content such as 100% polyester, nylon, cotton blend, spandex blend or mechanical stretch. |
| GSM / weight | Share target GSM or acceptable range. If unknown, state garment type and desired hand feel. |
| Usable width | Confirm usable cutting width, not only nominal width, especially for coating, lamination or finished fabric. |
| Color and lot | Send Pantone, lab dip, reference swatch, stock color direction and quantity by color. |
| End use | State garment or product use such as jacket, rainwear, pants, uniform, workwear, bag, lining or outdoor shell. |
Step 2
Function and finishing details
- Water resistance: DWR, PU coating, TPU lamination, water pressure target or rainwear requirement.
- Breathability: Required when the fabric is used for outdoor apparel, rainwear or softshell structures.
- Stretch and recovery: Important for T400, T800, pants, uniforms and active apparel programs.
- Hand feel and appearance: Matte, shiny, soft, crisp, peach, calendered, downproof, yarn-dyed or textured surface.
- Testing needs: Color fastness, shrinkage, water pressure, peeling strength, OEKO-TEX or buyer-specific inspection items.
Step 3
Order, sample and inspection details

| Lead time | Sample deadline, bulk delivery window and destination country or port. |
| Packing | Roll length, label, shipping mark, carton, bale or buyer packing requirement. |
| Inspection | Confirm roll inspection, GSM, usable width, color, surface defects, shrinkage, color fastness or coating/bonding checks. |
| Documents | State whether a test report, certificate, commercial invoice, packing list or other export document is required. |
